Hey PPLA friends, I’m Morgan! I want to share a bit about myself and my passion for art! My current season of life is as a student in Phoenix, Arizona. When I’m not studying, you can find me working as an art instructor and free-lance artist. I work in tons of different mediums from colored pencil to watercolor. Each day I spend time coming up with new content for classes and custom painting orders.
My art career first started out with colored pencils which gave me a good foundation of skill to grow off of. After learning the important techniques, I knew I was ready to try something more freeing and water color is just that! The beauty of watercolor is that the paint takes on a life of its own the minute it hits the paper. I find so much freedom in letting the water puddle and create features in the painting I never would have seen on my own. I would have to say my absolute favorite thing to paint are florals and of course - CACTUS!
Living in Arizona, I’m surrounded by the desert and all of its unique features. The pastel colors, florals, and cacti have become my pallet for inspiration! It could be as simple as the colors in a cactus that catch my eye and inspire the design for a new painting! It's those colors other than the obvious ones that bring an object to life. When I paint I tend to dramatize the details - to give attention to those beautiful things we usually overlook.
Three words that would describe my style are simple, effortless, and eclectic. I keep most of my paintings simple to draw attention to the subject and fit nicely in a variety of spaces. I put little effort into perfecting the consistency of my watercolors and pride myself in allowing the paint to take on its natural form. My painting style carries over into my closet as well - most of my outfits are made up of simple day-to-day pieces that can be layered for an eclectic look. It was so fun getting share a bit of myself with you all!
